The British Museum, the South-bank-based Haywood Gallery and The Arts Council for England have teamed up to spearhead the festival starting in February.
It also involves 40 other London arts venues including the Barbican and the National Film Theatre running exhibitions, concerts and conferences. Publicity for Africa 2005 kicks off with a launch press conference next month.
British Museum head of comms Joanna Mackle said: ‘It is an important time for Africa because of the G8 summit and because of the report being published by the Commission for Africa next year.’
