It has emerged that Stevenson took on the role a few weeks ago, assuming responsibility for the nuclear provider’s relations with the UK Government, the EU and the Scottish Parliament and reports to BE head of external affairs Carl Gibson.
He leads a seven-strong team and manages a budget of around £1m.
Gibson said: ‘It is an exciting time to be joining British Energy; we have the biggest public policy challenge ahead of us in convincing politicians and the public of the role nuclear energy has in a low-carbon economy’.
Stevenson replaces Peter Haslam who is now acting as a consultant, said Gibson.
