Diary: Hit or Miss... Virgin timing debacle

Virgin's launch of the world's first commercial space flight business came seriously unstuck this week by transport problems closer to home. While hacks initially warmed to the positive story of space travel, a better angle emerged as its launch coincided with the official launch of Virgin's tilting train service - which broke down.

The Sun, among others, enjoyed the gaffe, with the headline 'Branson: I'll fly you to space in 2007 (Shouldn't you fix the tilting trains first?)'.

Bad timing all round.
