Diary: A nod to 'spin' at Xchangeteam bash

The endless debate over the relative merits of PR and journalism got an airing last week when PROs convened at a hotel in London's Victoria for an event organised by Xchangeteam.

Decent appraisal systems and HR services, better career structure - and money - were flagged up as reasons why journalists cross to the 'dark side', with the difference between the professions being 'we are selling and they (journalists) are buying', attendees concluded.

Surprisingly, the concept of 'spin' as an appropriate description of PR got the nod from most around the table - if for no other reason than it gives families an idea of what their PRO relatives do to earn a crust.
