ITV snaps up ITN’s Cohen as PA chief

ITV has appointed ITN corporate affairs director Sophie Cohen as controller of public affairs to complete the void left by Nick Toon’s departure in August to head public affairs at Channel 4.

Cohen takes responsibility for relations with Westminster after the network promoted head of public affairs Simon Pitts to controller of regulatory affairs to take on Toon’s previous regulatory remit.

ITV chief Mick Desmond said of Cohen’s role that ‘modernising ITV’s public service broadcasting responsibilities following the Communications Act and [Ofcom’s] PSB review is a priority’.

Cohen reports to director of regulatory affairs Christy Swords.
