CONSUMER: Taylor Herring Communications has poached Cake account director Justin Crosby to run a new consumer brands division. The agency is targeting new business in areas such as leisure and retail, consumer technology, sport and FMCG goods. Prior to Cake, Crosby was an associate director at Kazoo Communications.
PRCA MIDLANDS: The PRCA in the Midlands has appointed Leader Communications chief executive James Holden as its chairman. Holden, who won last year’s IPR PRide Award for PR Professional of the Year for the Midlands, replaces three-year stalwart Haslimann Taylor MD Bronwen Eames.
PITCH: Mystical Productions is holding a pitch to promote its BBC children’s TV character Mysti as it bids to stir up interest in merchandising licences. Four agencies are shortlisted for the contract.
CONSUMER: Fruit of the Loom has hired Consolidated Communications to launch a range of men’s underwear in the UK. The agency won the account in a two-way pitch and will initially focus on raising awareness about the underwear with Christmas-gift buyers.
SPORTS SPONSORSHIP: Scottish Courage is to use sports marketing company Sports Vision to run a PR campaign for its Foster’s lager brand. The agency has been recruited to publicise the brand’s sponsorship of the British Professional Surfing Association Tour.
APPOINTMENT: Former Golin/Harris London director for new business development Véronique Briant has resurfaced as SV-P and general manager in Weber Shandwick’s Toronto office.
