Knowsley beefs up comms team

Knowsley Borough Council has drafted in a host of fresh recruits to its revamped comms team.

The PR department’s budget has been boosted by £38,000 to fund the launch of a regular community newspaper and to expand the team by three after a proposal to the council executive made by head of communications Carol Lamb in June (PRWeek, 25 June).

Wendy Twigge has stepped into the newly created role of freedom of information officer, joining from Liverpool City Council’s press office. Jayne Clough becomes consultation officer from her current post at Gateshead Council and Vicky Gianelli takes up the new role of copywriter.

Other recent recruits include Motor Neurone Disease Association head of comms Gayle Sweet, who has become corporate comms officer and Seston Council press officer Alex Westwell has joined as media officer. Knowsley has 30 PR staff.
