MoD medical arm to monitor media

The Ministry of Defence’s medical services department has drafted in its first agency to conduct media monitoring as part of a department-wide drive to improve communications.

The Defence Medical Services Department (DMSD), which supplies medical services to forces staff across the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force during peacetime and periods of conflict, has appointed Lexicon PR to manage the project.

Lexicon MD Sue Baker said: ‘DMSD wants to make sure it communicates effectively and to see the way in which it appears in the press and broadcast media. It has no mechanism in place to see what is being said about it.’

The programme will run until next summer.

Lexicon handled a pilot project for the DMSD more than a year ago.
