The review of activity and spending kicked off when the Conservatives took control of the authority last year. It is deciding whether to centralise or decentralise the comms function, according to head of marketing and communications Jayne Surman.
‘We are looking to ensure that everyone is working to the same quality. We have a mixture of both centralised and non-centralised communications at the moment,’ she said.
The results of the review will be agreed with council bosses within weeks and Surman will then fill the department’s current five vacancies.
The replacement of staff who have moved on over the past year has been suspended pending the review’s conclusion.
