Diary: Hit or Miss... Dyke book launch

Former BBC director-general Greg Dyke took to the airwaves and the papers last week to punt his autobiography Inside Story and TV documentary, gaining mixed reviews from the media. While nearly all found his stories of the BBC boardroom fascinating, the man himself came in for the most criticism. The Times likened him to 'a genial, if truculent, London cabbie'. Even the man who brought about his downfall, Andrew Gilligan, had little empathy, writing in the Evening Standard that 'some of (his) language betrays too much soreness'.
