Diary: Vodafone in family link with Tavistock

In the wake of the departure of Vodafone director of corporate affairs Tim Brown, it has emerged this week that his former employer, Vodafone's City PR firm Tavistock Communications, has an intriguing connection with the mobile giant's chief executive Arun Sarin.

Tavistock chairman Jeremy Carey confirmed that Ananya Sarin, a distant relative by marriage to Vodafone's head honcho, spent six months working at the agency as a consultant.

Carey admitted that he had been able to fill out the family tree for the Vodafone chief executive by introducing him to his namesake on a visit to Tavistock's offices. Sadly, Ananya left Tavistock earlier this year and is now working at Corus.

Those PROs ruthlessly speculating that the Vodafone account may now shift might note the loss of another of the Tavistock ties that bind.
