Avenance PR push for healthy food

Avenance, the UK’s thirdlargest contract caterer, is to target education and healthcare verticals with its message that nutritious food contributes to a productive workforce.

The caterer has appointed Jill Smith from clothing company Weekenders as its first in-house PR officer to manage media relations with catering trade press. It has also hired Cohn & Wolfe to concentrate on national and regional media and key sectors.

‘Avenance is a fresh food company and it’s a fantastic time [to talk about this] because people are much more aware of what they eat, how it’s cooked and how nutritious food is,’ said Avenance business development and marketing director Ian Styles.

C&W, which replaced QBO Bell Pottinger after a four-way pitch, will also prepare crisis management strategies.
