Ozone to plug Microban in the UK

Antibacterial-protection firm Microban is the latest company seeking to capitalise on media interest in hospital superbug MRSA, having drafted in Ozone to handle its PR.

Microban – which manufactures products, such as plastic wastebins, with in-built anti-microbial properties – is bidding to boost brand awareness in the UK.

Microban-treated products can resist virtually all the bacteria that contribute to hospital-acquired infection, including MRSA, according to Ozone chairman Gareth Zundel.

Zundel said Ozone will target government health agencies, hospital trust execs and purchasing departments.

Similarly, the agency will target firms that make products for the health sector and ‘need to know how to adopt Microban technology’, Zundel added.

The agency has an initial four-month contract.

Other recent MRSA-related hires include the decision of Johnson Diversey, the firm behind the Jonmaster microfibre system, to bring in Verve PR (PRWeek, 10 September).
