Diary: Mango bears fruit of PROs' departure

The PR industry is awash with agencies with curious names (there's Cow, there's Cake, who can forget the former S.Punk? (that's enough - Ed)) but PRWeek this week hears of a quite fruity development on the agency moniker front.

An agency has just launched called Mango PR - nothing massively interesting about that, clearly, but given that co-founders Lucinda Buxton and Sarah Hurley formerly worked at Pineapple PR & Marketing, we were eager to know whether there's some sort of fruit fetish going on in the new agency's Fleet Street offices.

'We chose the name because mangos are better for you (than pineapples),' is all Hurley will say, somewhat enigmatically, when asked to explain the five-strong hotel and travel specialist agency's branding.

For our peace of mind, Hurley reassures us that there are no plans to launch spin-off divisions called, say, Kiwi or Kumquat.

In the wake of Mango's creation, Pineapple has now rebranded as Pineapple Marketing, according to our man in the greengrocers.

Incidentally... PR firms setting up in Fleet Street? Whatever next, newspapers relocating to Soho?
