Westminster in clean-up drive

Westminster City Council has launched a viral email campaign to raise the profile of council services among the district’s younger residents and workers.

Part of the council’s innovation month that promotes innovative council policies, the email shows a man in a rubber suit in Soho being thrown into the back of a lorry with black bags of rubbish.

Council head of comms Alex Aiken said: ‘It is aimed at young people who would not normally be receptive to council messages, to engage them and let them know that Westminster is innovative.’

The email shows that the rubbish trucks carry global positioning satellite trackers, so the council can monitor them to check they are cleaning up areas they are sent to.
