Blackburn with Darwen council wins IPR accolade

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council scooped the Communicators of the Year accolade at this year’s IPR Local Government Group Excellence Awards, held last week.

Its two commended campaigns –Thrash the Trash, and Belonging to Blackburn with Darwen – contributed to the award, as well as the council’s communications toolkit, published this year, and its relaunched website.

Runners-up for the Communicators of the Year Award included Luton Borough Council, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, Greenwich Council and the City of Westminster.

Derbyshire County Council came away with the top prize for best publication/leaflet for its B-line quarterly magazine. The winner of the PRWeek-sponsored Best Campaign award was Crawley Borough Council for its work on encouraging residents to vote by post.

Other IPR winners included Basingstoke, Cardiff, East Hertfordshire, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Greenwich councils.
