Charity launches shared care push

The Shared Care Network is embarking on a campaign to emphasise how carers of disabled children change lives in a bid to recruit more short-term care workers.

The charity intends to highlight the benefits of becoming a short-break care worker for both the workers and the families who care for a disabled child.

It will use evidence gathered from questionnaires sent out to long-term carers to demonstrate to the media what a positive difference a short break makes to the atmosphere in the home.

The campaign will roll out regionally during Share the Care Week, which runs from 20-26 September. Local members will target regional media with local case studies and details of local recruitment events.

The charity then plans a national launch at the House of Commons in October.
