Burns joins from York-based B2B agency The Partner Group. She will work within the charity’s eight-strong comms department.
Burns’s brief is to continue the awareness campaign ‘Total Control’ – which was launched last year – and build on other campaigns, including highlighting the effect of anti-epilepsy drugs on women.
Burns will work alongside PRO Barbara Pinder. ‘We need to do more proactive things, rather than be reactive,’ Burns said.
‘We need to be telling people about epilepsy and what they can expect when they’re diagnosed. Eighty-one people are diagnosed every day with having epilepsy, and one in 133 people has it.’
Epilepsy Action is the UK’s largest member-led epilepsy organisation with 18,000 members.
