The Cloud eyes non-tech outlets

The Cloud, the world’s second-largest public-access wireless broadband network, has launched a media relations drive to promote its services in non-technology markets.

The PR campaign by The Banner Corporation will target trade media for sectors such as retail, hospitality, business conference centres and rail transport in which ‘technology is not necessarily front of mind’, said Cloud marketing director Sonny Waheed.

Potential Cloud customers, such as local coffee shops, can act as public access points for broadband services, but owners are unlikely to read Broadband Week, he explained.

An injection of private equity in July has allowed Cloud to ‘address markets more aggressively’, said Waheed, as it rolls out new products to connect a broader range of sectors to its network.
