RMC director of corporate communications Tim Stokes confirmed that the group had hired Citigate Dewe Rogerson following a pitch involving several other agencies.
‘We felt it was an appropriate time to investigate other options,’ said Stokes.
Stokes said there were no changes to the financial comms brief, focusing on its results calendar work.
Last week, RMC posted a rise in pre-tax profit of £12.1m to £62.8m for the six months to the end of June.
This rise was in line with expectations, although RMC said its UK operations had suffered from stoppages at a key plant and the economic slowdown in Germany had affected demand. Germany and the UK account for 45 per cent of RMC sales.
The hire of CDR comes in the wake of the appointment of David Munro as RMC chief executive in January this year. He was previously chief development officer at mining group BHP Billiton.
CDR chief executive Jonathan Clare is leading the account, with support from director Michael Berkeley.
