Salt nets Electoral Commission post

The Electoral Commission has recruited former Millennium Commission PR chief Angela Salt as director of communications, with a brief to promote turnouts and step up efforts to modernise the political process.

She joins from Grayling, where she has been a director for three and a half years.

Salt takes up the post in mid-October, reporting to commission chief executive Roger Creedon. She will oversee a 24-strong team comprising press officers, publications staff, campaign employees and ‘outreach’ workers, whose main task is to boost the political participation of 18 to 24-year-olds outside formal education.

The comms director post was held previously by Ann Hinds, who died suddenly in April.
