Sophoclides aims for in-house role

Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott’s former political assistant Tony Sophoclides has left Westminster Strategy after five years.

Sophoclides, who was a director reporting to chief executive Vivienne Hepworth, has opted to quit the consultancy scene altogether to seek public affairs opportunities in-house.

His clients included FTSE 100 chemical and gas company BOC, the Government of Guernsey and retailer Asda’s property division.

He left Prescott’s side in 1999 to join Political Context, which was three months later acquired by Westminster Strategy.
