Volunteer body consults youth

The newly established Russell Commission has launched a consultation campaign as part of government efforts to arrest a fall in youth volunteering.

Headed by Scottish Power chief executive Ian Russell, the commission, set up in May, is reviewing the National Youth Volunteering Strategy, which underpins the level of community participation by the young.

A press and PR campaign is being launched to promote russellmission.com, which aims to create a ‘virtual community’ of 16 to 25-year-old opinion formers.

In addition, a series of nationwide events to help revamp the commission’s strategy are planned.
