Cheshire tourist board hires boss

Cheshire and Warrington Tourist Board has poached Chris Brown, director of operations at lobbying and promotional body The Mersey Partnership, to be its CEO.

Brown takes over from Mike Cooksley, who was CEO and MD when the tourism promotion organisation launched in April and is now chairman.

The tourist board is a private-sector-led company with financial and partnership support from the North West Development Agency and local authorities.

Brown joined The Mersey Partnership as director of tourism in 1999, becoming director of operations in September 2001. He said: ‘We’ll be working more closely than ever with authorities and other interests.’
