Diary: A 'pow-wow' too far for ScotPower

ScottishPower's top PRO Dominic Fry has hit out at the more colourful coverage of the native Americans who were, according to the Daily Mail, 'treading a warpath' to this Friday's AGM.

The Mail reported that tribes, 'including Klamath tribesman Big Man, who is leading the delegation', wanted a 'pow-wow' with ScotPower bosses over damage they claim one of its subsidiaries' hydroelectric dams in the US have caused to salmon stocks.

But group director of corporate communications Fry says: 'Some of the language in these reports seeks to perpetuate stereotypes and that's sad.

We take this seriously - they are important people.

'A lot of coverage they have generated has trivialised them - they are reasonable guys and don't deserve this coverage... you could say it's a sign of racial intolerance,' he adds.

Indeed.
