APCO Europe hires Wall Street Journal’s Michener

BRUSSELS: APCO Europe has hired Wall Street Journal Europe’s long-standing Brussels correspondent Brandon Michener as a director in its Brussels media practice.

Michener, who has worked at WSJE for almost ten years, will work across a range of multinational corporate accounts and on some of APCO’s work with non-EU country governments.

He will report to Brussels MD Laurent Chokouale Datou, working under European media practice head Ivo Ilic Gabara.

APCO Europe chairman Brad Staples said: ‘Brandon will play a key role as part of our Brussels competition practice – helping our corporate clients to manage the coverage of deals and competition cases in the business press.’

During his stint at WSJE, Michener’s work covered EU politics and business affairs with a particular focus on competition policy, business regulation and the EU Constitution.

He covered anti-trust cases around the WorldCom-Sprint, HP-Compaq, AOL-Time Warner and GE-Honeywell mergers as well as the landmark Microsoft case.

The appointment follows APCO Europe’s recent appointment of Garry Walsh from GBC Public Affairs as associate director.
