C&W healthcare joint-MD Jeremy Clark will run the division alongside Jacinta Collins, who said the agency saw both fields as a ‘growth opportunity’ and that the agency had already received a ‘number’ of new business approaches.
C&W already works on med ed or professional relations contracts for clients including AstraZeneca and Procter & Gamble.
Collins added: ‘We have been doing an increasing amount of med ed and professional relations work as part of broader client programmes… it is now time to cement this capability and reach out to a potentially different client base.’
The agency is aiming to replicate the development of its consumer health arm Elixir, which launched two years ago and is now a standalone division within its healthcare team.
Specialists such as NHS and healthcare policy manager Anne Ruglys will work for Catalyst, while the agency says it can ‘call on’ the knowledge of more than 40 advisers in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Clark and Collins were promoted from their former roles as directors earlier this month (PRWeek, 2 July).
