Iceland comms brief up for grabs

Frozen-food giant Iceland is considering drafting in a fresh PR agency to boost its profile in the national press and promote forthcoming range launches.

Iceland consumer PR manager Kate Oldfield, who declined to return calls from PRWeek, has met agencies in the past few weeks to effectively replace Brazen PR, which ceased to work for Iceland at the end of last month.

The brief up for grabs involves promoting the brand in the nationals and supporting launches, according to a source close to the review.

Brazen handled various projects over the past 18 months but is not in the running for the fresh brief.

Iceland continues to work with Ptarmigan on frozen-food promotional campaigns, while McCann-Erickson Manchester works with its local stores marketing team. Neither agency is involved in Oldfield’s review.

Like-for-like sales at Iceland fell by 1.7 per cent in the quarter to 2 July.
