Doncaster texts for teen safety

Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council has begun a text message campaign asking teenagers if ‘U no ur txt tlk?’ to promote road safety in the school holidays.

The campaign runs until the end of July and aims to educate teenagers about road safety.

It asks teens to sign up to a competition to win a hi-tech mobile phone. Once registered, they receive a series of road safety messages to their phones.

Cabinet member for neighbourhood services, councillor Stuart Exelby, said: ‘As mobile phones are at the height of their popularity with young people, this initiative is designed to get the message direct to them.’
