Diary: Playlist keeps IPR Awards humming

The PRWeek contingent was strategically planted in the far corner of Monday night's IPR Excellence Awards at London's Hilton - right next to the speaker blaring out classic pop tunes to greet the winners on stage, each one hand-picked to suit them.

So, after the evening's compere, Independent on Sunday editor-at-large Janet Street-Porter, tipsily introduced herself as the 'independent-at-large', one was left to record the IPR playlist for awards ceremony posterity and indulge in a game of 'Name that synergistic tune'.

Here are some of the evening's gems - Def Leppard's Animal for WWF's PA award; Iggy Pop's Lust for Life for Rebecca Mayo's Young Communicator accolade; Oasis's Cigarettes and Alcohol for Heineken Music and Slice's international PR award; and Blondie's Hanging on the Telephone for the CSR award for BT's Am I Listening? campaign by Sinclair Mason.

But the 'grand prix' has to go to The Proclaimers' I Would Walk 500 Miles for Zimmer's 2-Incision hip replacement procedure campaign by Kaizo. Inspired.
