Doncaster starts recycling push

Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council has set out on a week-long push to promote recycling, headed by mayor Martin Winter.

A number of activities have been organised for Resource Recovery Week as part of the council’s aim to slash the amount of domestic, industrial and commercial waste produced in Doncaster.

Activities include encouraging local artists to design reusable refuse bags and school workshops with a recycling theme.

A spokeswoman said: ‘There will be exhibition vehicles and educational plays touring the borough along with many other exciting events, including a new internet-based game for children.’

Winter added: ‘Many items we once called rubbish are actually resources and we all need to know how to recover these precious materials and contribute to the wellbeing of the environment.’
