Diary: Environmental police take note

Glasgow City Council has shown its commitment to green issues by calling in a second Strathclyde police officer to tackle 'environmental crime'.

PC Clare McLelland will be tackling a raft of issues such as fly-tipping and fly-posting, but we wonder whether this will extend to green misdemeanours being committed by the council's own press office.

Over the last year, it has taken the unofficial accolade as the most fax-happy press office in the public sector, producing a mountain of paper through our newsroom's machine each month.

Perhaps PC McLelland will issue an official caution ordering the team to investigate the modern paper-saving miracle of email.
