CFDG targets Govt over Charity Bill

The Charity Finance Directors’ Group (CFDG) is spearheading a campaign to persuade the Government to relax the laws on charities trading in the Charities Bill.

It is lobbying government to include proposals in the bill that would enable charities to trade without necessarily setting up a separate trading company.

According to the CFDG, this would reduce the amount of bureaucracy that charities have to deal with and effectively recognise sponsorships as donations.

CFDG is targeting MPs of the Parliamentary Scrutiny Committee on the Charities Bill, key policy makers on the Charity Commission, charity finance titles and social affairs sections of the press. It also hopes to get the support of the Inland Revenue.
