Liley, who was news editor of Unilever’s internal intranet publication and has a career in journalism spanning 25 years, last worked in PR when she was chairman of not-for-profit lobby body Full Time Mothers.
In the newly created role at Oasis, which results from a comms restructure, Liley will take charge of the trust’s media and external relations strategy as well as its marketing and internal comms.
Liley is considering a review of its current external PR support – a roster of freelance PROs – and has a remit to promote Christian values within society. ‘I am aiming to challenge and change perceptions of the church by engaging with both media and government,’she said.
She will report to Oasis Trust founder Reverend Steve Chalke and oversee PR activity for both the trust’s online ‘church’, church.co.uk, and Faithworks, the trust’s project providing resources for local churches to engage with their communities.
The organisation is also in the process of appointing a new director of public affairs to work alongside Liley.
