Richardson has taken the position of European operations marketing communications and advocacy manager at Eli Lilly Holdings, a role that sees her helping to co-ordinate the PR strategies of Lilly's country operations across Europe.
The Surrey-based role reports to European operations executive director of corporate affairs and pricing Dominique Amory and has been filled for the past two years by various people on a secondment basis, according to Richardson.
She sits alongside European operations director of product comms and advocacy Frances Beves in Amory's six-strong comms team, which includes two Brussels-based public affairs staff.
The disease areas that fall under Richardson's control include oncology, osteoporosis, critical care and neuroscience. She said her aim was to provide 'strategic guardianship to ensure best practice is aligned (across Europe)' and to ensure 'consistency' of comms strategy across 31 markets.
One brand on which PR will focus is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder brand Strattera, approved for sale in the UK two weeks ago; approval in other European countries is anticipated.
Richardson was formerly head of external comms and deputy director of public affairs at Pharmacia, which she left in October after the company's acquisition by Pfizer.
She joined Pharmacia in January 2002, having formerly worked as UK head of PR at Danish firm Leo Pharmaceuticals for six years.
Prior to Leo, she worked at non-pharma companies including Barclays Bank.
