Voluntary Sector: BME domestic violence drive

Black and minority ethnic (BME) women's group Southall Black Sisters is to launch a media campaign in July entitled 'Old Stories, New Lives', in a bid to improve the way various groups work with BME female victims of domestic violence.

The not-for-profit group has hired Upward Curve PR to support the campaign, which includes a conference in Westminster in October and the launch of best practice policies after the event.

Upward Curve PR account manager Claire Austin said: 'The event aims to get people to set up workshops and discuss ways of working with victims of domestic violence.'

The campaign aims to target human rights groups, the legal profession, police and judiciary, as well as the voluntary sector.

This year Southall Black Sisters celebrates its 25th anniversary.
