Gulf H&K clears Riyadh office

RIYADH: Gulf Hill & Knowlton, the Middle Eastern arm of WPP agency Hill & Knowlton, has evacuated all western staff from its Riyadh office following an escalation in violent attacks on westerners in Saudi Arabia.

The move follows security advice that all non-essential ex-pat staff should leave the country.

Gulf H&K Saudi Arabia manager Damian James said Europeans were relocated from the six-strong office in the Saudi capital to Bahrain and Dubai on Tuesday ‘in line with contingency plans being adopted by other western firms across the Kingdom’.

He added the agency did not plan to relocate western staff from its Jeddah office.

On Wednesday (16 June), an Islamist website posted a video of a US citizen abducted in Riyadh last Saturday.
