Brunswick to aid Green’s UCI bid

Ousted Carlton Communications chairman Michael Green has rekindled his relationship with Brunswick as he plots a bid for the United Cinemas International (UCI) chain.

Brunswick partners Andrew Garfield and James Hogan are leading a team advising Green’s private vehicle Tangent Industries.

Green is reported to have agreed to buy rival chain Cine-UK from a consortium of financial institutions in a bid to strengthen his position as the UK cinema industry consolidates. If Green’s bid for UCI is successful, it is likely that he would merge the two chains.

Other bidders for UCI are understood to include Vue Entertainment, , backed by Legal & General Ventures.

Green was advised by Brunswick during the merger of Carlton with Granada to form ITV.
