Opinion: Leader - Election turnout is the pressing issue

As the nation goes to the polls for local, mayoral and European elections, the comms challenges particular to each party and candidate are relatively minor. The enduring problem of low turnout is far more pressing.

From the amount of paper and ink used by campaigners, one might think there was evidence of a link between effort and outcome. There is not, as countless hard-working but defeated parties can testify.

PROs should get involved with organisations that are at least trying to effect change. Leaving the job to leaflet designers does not seem to be doing the trick.
