The move follows a decision to ban lighting up in the bars of five leisure and sports facilities across the county.
Lincolnshire cabinet member for leisure, strategy and customer comms Alan Holgate explained: 'The council and leisure facilities promote healthy lifestyles. To do so, while allowing smoking on our facilities, is not compatible.'
The campaign launches in early July. It will feature articles on the benefits of a smoke-free environment and advice on giving up in the council's bi-monthly magazine, Direct, plus an ad campaign in regional media.
It launches amid growing debate on smoking in public. Last month, the Royal College of Nurses annual congress voted in favour of pressing the Government for a ban in the workplace, pubs, clubs and restaurants.
