Capgemini media relations manager Emma Giles said that the firm had appointed Red following a competitive pitch involving a final shortlist of four agencies (PRWeek, 23 March).
She added that Consolidated Communications and icas PR, which had previously advised the then Cap Gemini Ernst & Young on B2B and media relations respectively, did not pitch for the account. Consolidated and icas were hired in 2002 (PRWeek, 12 April 2002).
Capgemini dropped Ernst & Young from its name last month in accordance with the terms of its merger agreement with the accounting firm in 2000.
Red will handle Capgemini’s corporate reputation and help communicate the firm’s new brand to the national, business and trade press.
