Hehir’s appointment comes as the crisis comms and reputation management agency plans to forge affiliate relationships with consultancies in Brussels, the US and Australia. Discussions are already under way with an agency in Melbourne.
Hehir said: ‘I am here to help build the business. This is not a client-service role.’
RL co-founder Mike Regester said Hehir, who will continue to be partly based in New Zealand, was the only person in the running for the newly created role.
Hehir founded Countrywide Communications in 1973 and stood down as PNI chairman in 2001. Hehir and Regester worked together at the Milk Marketing Board in the 1960s.
