Surrey launches anti-abuse drive

Surrey County Council is to launch a campaign to tackle abuse against ‘vulnerable’ adults, addressing fresh Government research that suggests nearly a third are being abused in their own homes.

For the third year running, the council will promote Adult Protection Week, which runs between 14-22 June, and it hopes to increase public awareness with a campaign entitled ‘Every Day, People Say Nothing’.

Information cards have been issued to front-line health and social care staff that provide details on what to do if someone is suspected of being abused. The committee has also produced posters and leaflets designed to help the public report abuse.
