Peter Pitts will join the global PR agency on 21 June. A successor has not yet been named by the US FDA.
At MS&L, Pitts will offer healthcare and food industries’ clients strategic advice on working with the FDA as ‘not only a regulator but also a partner’, he said. He will also help clients create consumer awareness programmes.
As associate commissioner for external comms since April 2003, Pitts provided policy and programme guidance on issues ranging from drug importation to direct-to-consumer advertising.
‘My time at the FDA has been incredibly exhilarating, and I hope to bring that exuberance to the private sector,’ said Pitts.
