Durrants buys up Xtreme news arm

Durrants Press Cuttings has bought the news division of Xtreme Information Services in a £17.5m deal to build overseas reach and improve overnight capabilities.

Durrants chief executive Stephen White said the purchase improves the company in two major areas. ‘First, Xtreme has a very robust overnight service capable of handling extremely complex briefs. We haven’t been capable of winning big government and banking tenders that need this kind of work.

‘Second, its international side is much larger than ours and it sells to clients outside the UK.’

Xtreme, with a client list that includes the Ministry of Defence and the Department of Trade and Industry, monitors more than 5,000 news publications from more than 30 countries.
