Government calls in Lexis for G8/EU

The Government has drafted in PR agency support as it assesses the extent to which the private sector could sponsor events and activities that will accompany its upcoming chairmanship of the G8 and European Union.

Britain takes responsibility for the G8 from the US government on 1 January 2005 and assumes presidency of the EU on 1 July for six months.

It emerged this week that Lexis PR won a competitive pitch to ‘review the scope for the Government to attract corporate partners for events and activities’, according to Lexis team leader Duncan Mackenzie Reid.

Lexis will produce a plan outlining how it believes the Foreign and Commonwealth Office could develop corporate partnership packages.

Corporate link-ups could include the practical, such as supplying IT, or sponsored policy.
