DaimlerChrysler set for TV debut

A DaimlerChrysler sports car is set to appear in the new series of Footballers’ Wives after the automotive giant hired Weber Shandwick’s product placement division to promote its models.

The brief includes a campaign to get two of the brand’s models onto UK TV and cinema screens.

Negotiations are under way to get Chrysler’s Crossfire onto the ITV show and Jeep’s Grand Cherokee into John Le Carré’s new film The Constant Gardener.

It is the first time the brand has been exposed to product placement initiatives.
