Greenwich wins celeb aid

Greenwich Council has drafted in celebrities to endorse good-luck cards sent to GCSE students in an attempt to encourage them to stay on at local schools.

Former Greenwich pupils including R’n’B singer Marvin Hume (pictured left with pupils) and BBC News anchor Asad Ahmad appear on the cards. The aim is to underline the importance of education by using the personalities as role models.

Greenwich’s effort includes rewards for those students who do well in their exams, such as a recording studio session with Hume and a tour of the BBC London News studios.
