IDeA releases tool for PR planning

The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) last week launched its latest learning tool to help local authorities manage their PR campaigns.

The CD-Rom, entitled Planning An Effective PR Campaign, aims to help communications professionals at all levels. It is made up of a series of exercises, case studies and a live project that learners complete.

There is also an emphasis on helping the learner to identify target audiences and to view campaigns from the perspective of audiences in the planning process.

IDeA head of knowledge and information Richard Grice said: ‘Good communications is a critical issue for local authorities. Local people who feel well informed by their council tend to be more positive about the authority, but we all know that getting comms right is not easy.’
