DoH to promote health service careers to youth

The Department of Health is embarking on a campaign to promote careers in the allied health services to school pupils and school-leavers.

The £100,000 New Generations project will be promoted to schools and educational establishments across England over six months and will be supported locally by strategic health authorities and workforce development confederations.

The education division of Nexus Communications, EPR, will promote the professions of speech and occupational therapists, prosthetics workers and

radiologists with particular emphasis on reaching ethnic minorities to ensure the workforce represents wider society.

The programme will be supported by EPR’s healthcare media relations specialists who will target the press.

Central to the campaign is a website with sections targeted at primary and secondary school children and students at further education colleges.

The site is due to go live in September.
